Top Tips for Monetising Your Blog

Posted in Blog, Blogging Tips by

A blog is a great way to diversify your sources of income. They are fairly simple to create and manage with fewer costs than ever before thanks to CMS platforms such as WordPress. If you’ve got a genuine passion for blogging and a niche that you’re interested in, why not take it up? Likewise, if you’re a business with fresh insight into your industry that you think would benefit someone, why not share content via a website blog? In exchange, you can grow your site’s authority to leverage greater rankings sitewide and attract those actively looking for your products or services. We’ve teamed up with a digital marketing agency in Hertfordshire to share some top tips for monetising a blog.

Add Ads

Google display ads can be featured on your website by creating an AdSense account and injecting code into your website. What this does is provide Google with permission to present relevant ads to your visitors. You will then earn a commission for every click.  There is a collection of over two million websites that are utilising this technique, however, it is worth noting that you may not see much benefit unless you have high monthly traffic

Accept Guest Posts

If your site has enough traffic or site authority, you may attract businesses looking to collaborate with you on content. This would usually be featured on your blog and feature a link to their website, earning them search engine “votes” and greater rankings. This can either be written by you or have them as the author with your approval. The fee that you charge is completely dependent on you. Think about the value that you have to offer and don’t shy away from expressing that.

Sell Products

You can also sell your own products that are linked to (where appropriate) within your blog. Likewise, you can sell products to others through what is known as affiliate marketing and earn a commission. There are many platforms out there that put both content creators and business owners in touch such as AWS and Rakuten. Amazon even has its own affiliate programme.
