I’m writing this post as part of Blogtober, but I usually do an end of year Blogging goals post anyway. Some don’t change much and others I plod away at but I always like to have something to aim for.
1. Break 10000 page views a month on midwifeandlife.com. I am almost there, I did break it once after I’d been Blogging a couple of years but it then dropped off when I went back to work part time. It then settled on around 6-7k per month, until a Google update earlier this year seemed to hit my traffic hard and it started going down and down. I had abandoned Pinterest and in desperation I went back to it. My traffic started increasing, and I could see in my analytics it was from Pinterest. I settled into a routine of repinning my popular posts, pinning onto group boards, pinning from the home feed and creating new pins and idea pins. Even though Pinterest is really pushing video and idea pins, mine aren’t doing as well as the static pins, maybe I need to refine how they look. Anyway, this strategy seems to be working and my traffic keeps wobbling from 9100 to 9600. I will keep working on content and SEO and link building in the background. My ultimate goal is to get into media vine, but you need to get to 25k sessions a month which I’m so far off.
2. Complete Blogtober. I’ve tried many times but I’ve always failed. Earlier this year I had the chance to take over the Blogtober Facebook group to make me more involved and it’s working, it’s day 9 today and here’s the post. I’m enjoying it so far.
3. Keep writing my book. I started writing a book earlier this year and i keep plugging away at it. I tried getting my brother to be accountable with me but we’ve fallen by the wayside. It’s a time thing and a head space thing too. I wrote about my writing quandary over on Lifeandthelords.com, should I write what sells or sell what I write? I will aim by this time next year to have something to send to publishers.
4 Earn more money from Blogging. We could always use more, right? We extended our house last year and increased our borrowing to do so, and it’s left things, shall we say, a bit tight financially? We can’t afford any extras like holidays or takeaways for a little while, but hey the house now suits our needs as a family. It’s not forever but if I could earn a bit more from the blog it would help me say yes to the kids more than no. I’d also like to retire early from nursing but keep writing. My blog earnings do keep growing year on year so I am definitely not complaining.
5. Keep growing my social media and experimenting with video. I particularly love Instagram, Tiktok and Pinterest. The creative element gets my juices flowing and I’d love to get better at photography and videography. I love trying out reels.
I love Blogging and the whole community, what are your blogging goals?

09/10/2022 at 11:15 amI have never exceeded 10k views on my blog and I’ve kind of stopped looking at figures now. I do need to earn more money though. Good luck with your book, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do too.

Great goals. Well done on extending your house etc, so worth it in the long run. I, like most of us I suppose atm, need to earn more too. Good luck with completing Blogtober- if I succeed it will be my first year making it to the end too xxx
