If you’re here, I presume you know about Domain Authority (DA). If you’re unsure what the hell I’m going on about, then please read this post on DA. You’re back? Good. I know I’m supposed to be the expert, and all my sites should be making me money in my sleep, right? Well blogging as an income source for me has taken a hit. I haven’t been putting the work in and it shows. I’ve had a drop in my income in the last year. I still make money every month, but it’s gone down by around half. So, I’ve decided to experiment with it to see if I can boost it. I discovered a couple of years ago that if I didn’t obsess over Instagram posting, likes and comments that it made zero difference to my earnings. Or did it? I stopped bothering with it, post hardly any stories, reels or photos.
I don’t get the brand deals I used to, but they were few and far between anyway. I had a negative experience with a brand. They wanted some content around travel and my holiday, I spent a fair amount of time on my holiday stressing about getting content and editing it and after several revisions they still weren’t happy enough with the final result. I redid it once I came home, but they still needed changes. Both sides decided to cancel, and I never got any money for the work I had done. I felt it impacted my holiday, so I decided not to do campaigns like that again.
Here’s my plan:
- Attempt to boost my DA by following my own suggestions and look at others to see if there are any new techniques
- Post at least one new post per week
- Post an Instagram reel at least once per week with different topics and styles to see what works
- Make a new pin for popular content
I could add in a whole lot more, but I know realistically what is manageable for me at the moment. My DA for this site is currently 15. So I will review this plan at the beginning of June, which gives me a month.
